SARRÓD VILLAGE MUSEUM
The Sarród Village Museum is located in the north-east part of the village of Sarród, near the church and the Catholic cemetery, in one of the old cottar houses. It was built in the 1930s, originally it belonged to the Tömördi family but has been operating as a village museum since 2005. Visitors may learn about the everyday life of the former fishing village and the famous folk craft of the village, matting. It is the cultural centre of the village hosting traditionalist events.
The Sarród Village Museum is revived thanks to the “Gems of the Fertő Region” project. The exhibition and the yards are renovated following traditions. For example, a pigsty on feet, a shred, a roofed well and a composter were built. A pavement and a properly covered road will be added for greater comfort. Solar panels were installed on the shed roof to provide energy and an irrigation system using the well’s water was also created.
